CHAPTER 354.

CHAP. 354.

An act incorporating a Company to make a Turnpike
Road on the bed of the present road leading from the
warehouse of Thomas G. Harris, in Mercersville, on
the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, to intersect the present
Sharpsburg and Hagerstown county road, at the point
where the new cut road, leading to said warehouse,
has lately been laid off and established, and running
thence on the bed of the Sharpsburg and Hagerstown
new road, in the direction of Hagerstown, until it
reaches the road which at present leads to John Sha-
rer's mill, thence -with said road crossing the bridge
over the Antietam Creek, at Sharer's Mill, until it
intersects the Boonsboro and Hagerstown Turnpike
Road, south of Funkstown.

1839.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a company be, and the same is here-
by incorporated, for making a turnpike road on the bed
of the present road leading from the warehouse of
Thomas G. Harris, at Mercersville, on the Chesapeake

Company incorpo-

rated.

and Ohio Canal, to intersect the present Sharpsburg
and Hagerstown county road, at the point where the
new cut road leading to said warehouse has lately been
laid off and established, and running thence on the bed
of the Sharpsburg and Hagerstown new road, in the
direction of Hagerstown, until it reaches the road
which at present leads to John Sharer's mill, thence
with said road crossing the bridge over the Antietam
creek, at Sharer's mill, until it intersects the Boons-
boro and Hagerstown Turnpike Road, south of Funks-
town.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That for making said road,
subscription books for a capital stock of forty thousand
dollars, in sixteen hundred shares, at twenty-five dol-
lars each, be opened at Hagerstown, by, and under the
directions of all or any of the following commissioners,

to wit: — John Sharer, David Claggett, David Emmert,
Jacob Fiery and William Boothe, on the first Monday
in July next, and continue open for three days inclu-
sive, and in the event of nine hundred shares of said
