CHAPTER 299.

CHAP. 300.

An act to authorize the closing of a part of H. Alley,
in the City of Baltimore.

Passed Mar. 18,
1839.

WHEREAS, J. Swan and George W. Williamson
have, by petition to the General Assembly of Mary-
land, set forth, that they are the owners and proprie-
tors of all the ground in the city of Baltimore running
from the west side of Cathedral street to Rover alley,
between Centre street and Monument street, and that
there is an alley located on the plat of said city, cal-
led H. alley, which runs between their lots from Ca-
thedral street to Plover alley; and whereas, Eliza
Matthews and Charles H. Carroll have also by their
petition set forth, that they are the owners of all the
ground fronting and binding on said alley between
Park street and Lerews alley, and they have prayed
for permission to close the said parts of H. alley, be-
cause said alley is of no use: — Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said J. Swan and George W. Williamson,
and also the said Eliza Matthews and Charles H. Car-
roll be, and they are hereby authorized and empower-
ed to shut up, and forever close the said parts of H
alley; provided however, that this act be first approv-
ed by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, who
are hereby authorized to require and receive of the
said James Swan and George W. Williamson, Eliza
Matthews and Charles H. Carroll such compensation
for the alley aforesaid as they may agree upon.

CHAPTER 300.

Authority to shut

up.

An act to divorce Elizabeth Barling, from her husband
Joseph Barling.

Passed Mar. 28,
1839.

SECTION l. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Elizabeth Barling and Joseph Bar-
ling, her husband, of the city of Baltimore, be, and
they are hereby divorced, a mensa et thoro, the said
Elizabeth henceforward to assume and be known by
her maiden name of Elizabeth Pannel.
