CHAP. 263.

CHAPTER 281.

Passed April 1,
1839.

An act to authorise the Thomsonians or Bolantic Physi-
cians, to charge and receive compensation for their
services and medicine.

Grant.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it may
and shall be lawful for each and every person, being
a citizen of this State, to charge and receive compen-
sation for their services and medicines, in the same
manner as physicians are now permitted to do.

CHAPTER 282.

Passed April 7,
1839.

An act to authorize the Moderator and Commissioners
of Hagerstown, to subscribe for stock in the Franklin
Rail Road Company.

May subscribe.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the moderator and commissioners of Hagerstown,
he, and they are hereby authorised and empowered to.
subscribe to the capital stock of the Franklin Rail Road
company, on behalf of said town, any sum of money,

Limit $20, 000.

not exceeding twenty thousand dollars, and to provide
the ways and means for paying the said subscription,
either by loan, or by levying the same upon the taxa-
ble property of said town, or otherwise, as they may
deem most expedient; provided, that in consideration
of said subscription, the said rail road company agree
to construst the said work through, and as near the
centre of said town, as practicable.

CHAPTER 283.

1839.

An act to Incorporate the Carroll County Lyceum, in
Westminster.
