CHAP. 275.

Acts inconsistent

herewith repealed.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That any act or acts in-
consistent with, or repugnant to the provisions of this
act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 274.

An act for the relief of Thomas Fletcher, an Insolvent
Debtor.

Insolvent laws ex-

tended to.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That any judge of the orphan's court of Washington
county, be, and he is hereby authorized and required
to grant to Thomas Fletcher, of the State of Pennsyl-
vania, the benefit of the several acts of Assembly,
passed for the relief of insolvent debtors; provided,
that the said Thomas Fletcher comply with the pro-
visions of the said insolvent laws in all respects, ex-
cept proving his residence for two years proceeding
his application, and except also, proving that he is in
actual confinement.

An act relating to Sheriffs.

ter.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the clerk of each county court in this State, shall in
open court, at the commencement of each term of the
county court of such county, administer to the sheriff
of each county in this State, the following oath: You,

Oath to sheriff.

A. B. do swear or affirm, (as the case may be) that in
summoning jurors, to be returned to any of the courts
of this State, and that in executing every writ or pre-
cept which hath come to your hands for the return of
jurors, you have used your utmost diligence to sum-
mon and return as jurors, sober and judicious persons,
of good reputation, and qualified by the laws of this
State to serve as jurors, and have prevented any man
from being summoned or returned by you, or by any
officer under you, who in your judgment, will be in-
fluenced in determining any of the matters which shall
