mains unpaid, and that he has not received any secu-

rity or satisfaction for the same, or any part thereof,

more than what credits may be allowed thereon.

CHAP. 259.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not
continue in force longer than one year, from the first
day of July next.

Limit 1 year.

An act, entitled, an act to abolish the Commissioners'
Court of Calvert County, and to provide for the elec-
tion of Commissioners of Tax by the people.

1839.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the commissioners' court of Calvert county be, and the
same is hereby abolished.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That Levin W. Ballard,
Levin Stanforth, James S. Morsell, Uriah Laveille,
James Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, be, and the
same are hereby created a board to be styled the
Levy Court of Calvert county, who shall exercise
all the powers, and perform all the duties heretofore
required to be performed by the commissioners' court
of said county, until the election of members of said
court hereinafter provided for.

Sec. S. And be it enacted, That the mode and man-
ner of electing the said members of the levy court of
Calvert county, shall be as follows: The voters of each

the election qualified to vote for members of the House
of Delegates shall, on the first Wednesday in October,
eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, and at the same time

every two years thereafter, vote at their respective
places of voting as already provide, ! for by law, for
such person or persons possessing the same qualifica-
tions as candidates for the House of Delegates.
