orphan's court shall direct.

CHAPTER 252.

CHAP. 252.

An act authorizing Tristram Thomas and William
Downes, of Queen Anne's County, to convey to Wil-
liam Downes, and others, a lot of land for the use of
the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Passed Mar. 26,

1839.

WHEREAS, it has been represented to the General
Assembly of Maryland that a certain Rebecca Mooth,
of Queen Ann's county, heretofore on the twenty-ninth
day of August, in the year eighteen hundred and twelve,
conveyed by deed of indenture, duly executed and re-
corded, to a certain Samuel Thomas, senior, Ezekiel
Merrick, Philemon Spencer, Charles Spencer, Thomas
Seward, Levit Cecil and Simeon West, a lot of land,
and house standing thereon, situate near the Beaver
Dam Causeway, in said county, to be by them and
their successors in office forever, appropriated to, and
for the use and benefit of the people of the vicinity, of
every denomination, as a school house; and whereas,
it has been represented by the successors in office of
the aforementioned trustees, and also by the people of
the said vicinity, that the said lot of land and house is
no longer required as a school house and has not been
so used for a long time; but is greatly desirable as a
place of public worship for the Methodist Episcopal
Church, and has been so used for many years; and
whereas, the said Rebecca Mooth hath departed this
life: — Therefore.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Tristram Thomas and William
Downes, of Queen Ann's county, be, and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to convey, by deed
of indenture to be acknowledged and recorded as deeds
for like purposes now are, to William Downes, Samuel
Walls, Aquilla Starr, William Wilson, Wesley Cle-
ments and John Hewett, Trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, in the vicinity of the Beaver Dam
Causeway, in Queen Ann's county, to them and; their
successors in officer forever, all that lot of land. and

Persons empower-
ed to convey.
