CHAPTER 241.

Passed Mar. 26,
1839.

An act authorising the Levy Court of Frederick County,
at their discretion, to levy a sum of money to erect a
bridge over the Middle Creek, in Frederick Comity,
on the road leading from Beallville, to the old Ha-
gerstown road.

Levy of $1, 000 au-

thorised.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the levy court of Frederick county, be, and they are
hereby authorised if in their discretion, the public in-
terest and convenience require it, to levy a sum of
money not exceeding one thousand dollars, for the

erection of a Bridge over Middle Creek, in Frederick
county, on the road leading from Beallville to the old
Hagerstown road, of such materials, and of such con-
struction, as they, in their judgment. may think best

calculated to promote the public interest; provided the
same shall be commenced within three years, and com-
pleted within five years after the passage of this act.

Not over 500 in one
year.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the judges of said
levy court, shall not levy the whole sum, 'in any one
year, but may levy a certain portion of said money not
exceeding five hundred dollars, in one year, until a
sufficient sum is raised, not exceeding one thousand
dollars.

Free Bridge.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That when said bridge is
built, it shall be a free bridge.

CHAPTER 242.

Passed Mar 26,
1839.

An act authorizing the Levy Court of Frederick Coun-
ty, in their discretion to levy a sum of money, to build
a Bridge over Hunting Creek, at Jacobs' Ford on the
road leading from Creager's Town to Frederick.

Levy of $2, 000.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the judges of the Levy Court of Fre-
derick county, be, and they are hereby authorised and
empowered, in their discretion, to levy a sum of money
not exceeding two thousand dollars, on the assessable
