Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That in accepting this act,
the said bank admits the right of either branch of the
legislature by a committee thereof at all times, to in-
spect the books, papers, and concerns of said bank,
and that the said bank consents that there is reserved
to the General Assembly; a right at all times to pass
any general law or laws in relation to banking; provdi-
ded, such law or laws do not alter, amend, or annul
the existing bank charters.

An act to alter and change the name of Richard Penhal-
low Evans, of Anne Arundel County, to Richard
Stewart Evans.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland That the name of Richard Penhallow
Evans, of Anne Arundel county, be, and is hereby
changed and altered to the name, of Richard Stewart
Evans; and it shall and may be lawful for the said
Richard Penhallow Evans, at all times hereafter, to be
called and known by, and hold, and use the name of
Richard Stewart Evans, and by said name, to sell,
purchase, convey, devise, and to sue, and be sued, in
any court of law or equity.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all sureties,
promises, contracts, assurances, hereafter to be made
or done, by or to the said Richard Penhallow Evans,
by the name of Richard Stewart Evans, shall be of the
same validity, and effect, and equally valid, to all in-
tents and purposes, as if the name of Richard Stewart
Evans, had been his first and original name.
