the clerk of Baltimore county court, in which such
claim shall have been entered, which shall forever
thereafter, discharge and release the same.

CHAP. 206.

Release.

Sec. 25. And be it enacted, That if any person who
shall have received satisfaction as aforesaid, shall ne-
glect or refuse to enter satisfaction of such claim as
aforesaid, within sixty days after request, and pay-
ment of the costs of suit, as aforesaid, he shall forfeit
and pay to the party aggrieved, any sum not. exceed-
ing one-half of the amount of such claim, to be recov-
ered as debts of a like amount are recoverable.

Sec. 26. And be it enacted, That provided, that no-
thing in this act contained, shall be construed to im-
pair, or otherwise effect, the right of any person to
whom any debt may be due, for work done, or materi-
als furnished, to maintain any personal action against
the owner of Hie building, or any other person liable
therefor, to recover the amount of such debt, not hav-
ing a claim exceeding fifty dollars.

Sec. 27. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

effect from and after the first day of June next.

CHAPTER 206.

Take effect 1, June.

An act to authorise the erection of a Gate, on the public
road, in district number six, in Dorchester County.

Passed Mar. 19,
1839.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, by the petition of certain. citizens in district num-
ber six, in Dorchester county, that they labour under
great inconvenience, and are subject to great loss in
their stock, from the want of a gate on the public road,
at or near the store house of Samuel Dunnock, and
whereas, it is also represented, that little or no incon-
venience to the public would arise from the erection of
said gate, from the fact of that part of the public road
being little used, except by the petitioners and those
in the immediate neighborhood, and the prayer of the
petitioners appearing reasonable: — Therefore.

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Wesley Woodland, William A. Slacum, Marsel-
lus D. Keene, Samuel J. Meekins, Samuel Keene, of B.
Samuel Hooper, Matthias Meekins, Fielder G. Jones,
