CHAP. 200.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Boonsbo-
rough Beneficial Society, hereby incorporated, shall

have for its sole and only object, a plan for the mutual

assistance of its members, founded upon principles of
charity and benevolence, and this act shall not be con-
strued for any other purpose whatsoever; provided
nevertheless, that nothing herein contained shall be so
construed as to extend to the society, any banking pri-
vileges.

CHAPTER 200.

Objects defined.

An act to authorise the Commissioners of Cecil County,
to levy a sum of money for the purpose of rebuilding a
Bridge over the Octorara Creek, in said county, at or
near Porter's Mill.

Passed Mar. 19,
1839.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland; That Patrick Erving, David Moore and
Robert Hindman, be, and they are hereby appointed
commissioners, and are authorised to contract for, and
superintend the rebuilding of the bridge over Octorara
creek, in Cecil county, at or near Porter's mill, and
that the said commissioners shall meet, so soon after
the passage of this act, as may be practicable.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
Cecil county, at their next annual levy, shall levy up-
on the assessable property in said county, a sum of
money not exceeding one thousand dollars, to be appli-
ed to the rebuilding of the aforesaid bridge, which
said sum of money, shall be paid to the aforesaid
bridge commissioners, or their order, or so much there-
of, as shall be necessary to complete the said bridge.

Levy directed,

$1, 000.

Paid over.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of said county, shall allow to the said bridge commis-
sioners, such compensation as to them may appear just
and reasonable.

Compensation.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid bridge
commissioners, or a majority of them, shall, so soon
as the aforesaid bridge shall be completed, make out
and render, with their certificates attached, a true and
