CHAPTER 167.

1839.

An act in relation to the Frederick County School Fund.

Act of Inspectors

confirmed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the act of the board of Inspectors
of Primary Schools, in Frederick county, appropriat-
ing the sum of nine thousand six hundred dollars and
seventeen cents, to the building of school Houses in
the several school districts in said county, be, and the
same is hereby rendered valid.

rected.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the Levy Court of
Frederick county, are hereby empowered and directed
to pay over to said board of inspectors of Primary
Schools, that portion of the Frederick county school
fund, placed at interest by them, under and by virtue
of the fourth section of the act of eighteen hundred
and thirty-five, chapter seventy-two, with all interest
that may have accrued, and now at their disposal un-
der said act.

Repealing clause.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts, inconsistent with this, be, and the same are here-
by repealed.

An act to authorize the Mayor ami City Council of
Baltimore to extend the limits of direct taxation.

Authority to levy

tax.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, be,
and they are hereby authorized and empowered in ad-
dition to any power of taxation heretofore vested in
them, to levy upon the assessable property within the
limits of the City of Baltimore, and collect by tax ac-
cording to the usual mode of raising money by taxa-
tion, in the said City of Baltimore, any sum or sums
which may be necessary to pay and discharge the prin-
cipal and interest of any loan or loans which may have
heretofore been obtained, or which may hereafter be
obtained by the said Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore, for the purpose of prosecuting and completing
the works of internal improvement now authorized by
