CHAP. LXXXIX.

Passed 20th of
January, 1808.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the relief of John Booth,
and for confirming his title in certain lands therein mentioned.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that Bartholomew Booth, in the original
act mentioned, died seized in fee-simple of other lands than those in the said act mentioned,
particularly of a tract of land situate in Frederick county, called The Forest of Needwood, con-
taining nine hundred and forty-five acres of land, which the said Bartholomew Booth, in the said
original act mentioned, hath by his petition requested that the title to the said lands may be declared
and confirmed to him by an act of the legislature, so that he may be enabled to convey the same to
the purchaser or purchasers thereof, agreeable to the contract of his deceased father: And whereas
the general assembly deem the prayer of the petitioner reasonable, and that the same ought to be
granted, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said John Booth, and his heirs,
be and they are hereby invested with all the right, title, interest, claim and estate, of the state of
Maryland, of, in and to, the said tract of land called The Forest of Needwood, with the privileges
and appertenances thereto belonging, or in anywise appertaining, upon the same terms and condi-
tions as are prescribed by the original act to which this is a supplement; provided, that the said
John Booth has executed his bond to the state of Maryland as is by the said act directed and pre-
scribed.
CHAP. XC.

Passed 20th of
January, 1808.

An ACT authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money to purchase a
fire engine, and finish the church in Westminster-town, in Frede-
rick county.

A scheme may
be proposed,
&c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That James M'Haffee, Jacob Shriver, Daniel
Zacharias, John Fisher and Jacob Yingling, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby au-
thorised to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not exceeding two
thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof; provided, that the said James M'Haf-
fee, Jacob Shriver, Daniel Zacharias, John Fisher and Jacob Yingling, or a majority of them, before
they proceed to the sale of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, shall give bond to the state of Mary-
land in the penalty of six thousand dollars, conditioned, that they will well and truly apply the mo-
nies arising therefrom, within nine months after the drawing thereof, to the payment of the prizes
drawn therein to the adventurers to whom they shall be due, and after deducting the necessary ex-
penses incurred in the management thereof, shall apply the residue, within eighteen months, to the
purchase of a fire engine, and finishing and completing the church in said town.

Bond to be
lodged, &c.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in the clerk's office of Frederick
county, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be
instituted for any breach or non-compliance with the condition thereof,

CHAP. XCI.

Passed 20th of
January, 1808.
Road declared
public, &c.

An ACT to confirm a certain road therein mentioned.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the road leading from James Crawford's
gate, on the main road from the town of Upper-Marlborough, in Prince-George's county, to
Bladensburgh, until it intersects the main road leading from the city of Annapolis to Bladensburgh,
by Jonathan Beall's, be and the same is hereby declared a public highway, and to be kept up and re-
paired in the same manner as other public roads in said county.

CHAP. XCII.

January, 1808.
Preamble.

An ACT to make public a road in Charles county.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Charles county, that it will greatly promote the convenience of the inhabitants thereof by
laying out, opening and making public, a road therein mentioned, and praying that commissioners
may be appointed to lay out and open the same; and the prayer thereof appearing reasonable, there-
fore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Philip J. Ford, Walker Dyson, John
Haw, William Wood and William Dent, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and they,
