1807.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners appointed by this act, or a majority of them,
or a majority of the survivors of them, shall meet at the usual place of holding the county court of
said county, on the first Monday of April next, for the purpose of performing the duties imposed by
this act, and the commissioners or commissioner so meeting, may adjourn from time to time, and
from place to place, until the whole is completed.

CHAP.
XXVIII.

Who shall
meet, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of Saint-Mary's county shall, sometime in the
month of August next, and in the same month annually for ever thereafter appoint three persons
for each election district, residents therein, who, or a majority, or any one of whom, in case of the
non-attendance of the other two, shall be the judges of the election for such districts, from the time
of their appointment until a new appointment; and the judges appointed shall have, hold and exer-
cise, the same powers and authority, and be subject to the same. penalties, as the judges of elections
in the several counties of this state now are.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all laws now in force with respect to the time, manner and mode,
'of conducting and regulating elections in the several counties of this state, shall be, and they are
hereby declared to be, in full force in Saint-Mary's county.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That for all services to be performed by this act, the levy court of
laid county shall make reasonable compensation out of the county levies.

CHAP. XXIX.

Court to make
compensation,
&c.

A Supplement to an ad: to appoint and authorise commissioners to re-
view and lay out a part of the road therein mentioned in Harford
county.

Passed 15th of
January, 1808.

WHEREAS by an act, entitled, An act to lay out, open and clear, a road in Harford county, from
the Pennsylvania line to Stafford mills, known by the name of York Road: And whereas it
is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of a number of the inhabitants of said coun-
ty, that the said road has not been laid out upon ground best calculated for the public convenience,
and praying that commissioners may be appointed to review the said road; and the prayer thereof
being reasonable, therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Josiah Johnson, Thomas Montgo-
mery and James Deaver, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to review the said road
directed to be laid out by the act, entitled. An act to lay out, open and clear, a road in Harford
county, known by the name of The York Road, from the east end of a lane known by the name of
Bell Farm Lane to the cross road where the Peach Bottom road crosses the aforesaid road leading
from the Pennsylvania line to Stafford mills, and they, or a majority of them, be and they are here-
by authorised and directed to review, survey, mark and bound, the same, and to make such altera-
tions as they in their judgment may think proper, and shall return a plot of the same to the clerk's
office of said county, to be there recorded.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the landholders over whose land the said road may pass shall
not be entitled to any damages for the same.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of Harford county be and thereby empower-
ed and directed, at their first meeting after the said plot shall be returned, if the said commis-
sioners shall judge proper to alter the said road, to appoint an overseer to open and clear the said
road agreeable to the said plot, and to levy such sum as the levy court shall think proper to clear
the same as aforesaid; and the overseer shall have the same allowance as other overseers in said
county,

V. AND HE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners of review hereby appointed, shall have an al-
lowance of two dollars for each day they shall attend in the discharge of their duties herein imposed,
Which is hereby directed to be levied, collected and paid over, as other county charges are levied,
collected and paid; provided, that there shall be no proceedings under or by virtue of this act until
all and every of the landholders, over whose land the said road is or may be contemplated to pass or
run, shall have signified, in writing, to the. levy court of said county, their assent thereto.
