Gal vert county, be, and he is hereby authorized and em-
powered to collect all taxes or parts of taxes, now remain-
ing due and unpaid to him as collector, in the same manner
and with the same power and privilege, as are allowed by
the existing laws in said cases made and provided, subject
to the restrictions hereinafter provided

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said William Ire-
land shall in every instance before he proceeds to collect
his said taxes, make affidavit before a justice of the peace
of the said county, that the same remains unpaid, and that
he hath not, nor any person for him, received any security
or satisfaction for the same, or any part thereof, more than

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said William Ire-
land, shall deliver or cause to be delivered to the person or
persons against whom he has taxes, an account shewing the
amount of taxes due by him her or them, at least twenty
days before he shall proceed to execute for said taxes.

force one year from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 119.
|

An act to incorporate the Pikesville Academy of Baltimore
County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That E. J. Smith, William Frush, Lau-
rence Byrne, Justus Geisenderffer and William Barnett of
Baltimore county, be, and they are hereby incorporated
the first trustees of the aforesaid Academy, and the said
trustees and their successors to be elected in the manner
hereinafter mentioned, shall be, and they are hereby de-
clared to be, one community, corporation and body politic,
with perpetual succession in deed and in law, to all in-
tents and purposes connected with said institution, by the
name and style of the Pikesville Academy of Baltimore
county, by which name and title they and their successors
shall be competent and capable in law and in equity, to
take and to hold to themselves and their successors, for
the use of said Academy, any estate in messuages, lands
and tenements, annuities, goods, chattels, monies or ef-

fects, by the gift, grant, bargain, sale, conveyance, devise
or bequest of any person or persons whatsoever. Provided,
the same do not exceed in the whole the clear value of five
thousand dollars, and the same messuages, lands and tene-
ments and other estate, real or personal, to farm, let and
put out on interest, for the use of the said Academy, and
in such manner as to them, or a majority of them, shall
seem most beneficial to the institution, and to receive
the rents, issues, profits income and interests of the
