CHAPTER 115.

CHAP. 117

An act for the relief of Normand Bruce Sheriff of Al-
legany county.

Passed Jan.
19, 1844.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Allegany county be, and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to assess and levy
upon the assessable property of said county, such sum of
money as they in their discretion shall deem reasonable and
just, as a compensation to Normand Bruce, sheriff of said
county, for expenses incurred and services rendered by
him in and about the execution of William S. Chrise, the
murderer of Abraham Frey.

CHAPTER 116.

 

An act to authorize William D. Ball, Sheriff of Balti-
more county, further time to complete his collections.

Passed Jan.
13, 1844.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time limited by law within which the, late sheriff
of Baltimore county shall have made his collections, be,
and the same is hereby extended to the first day of Octo-
ber, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and forty-seven.

ded.

CHAPTER 117.

 

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to lay out and open
a road in Allegany county, passed at March session eigh-
teen hundred and forty-one, chapter forty-four.

Passed Jan.
16, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all that part of the road authorized to
be laid out and established by the first section of the ori-
ginal act, commencing at a point at or near David Rice's
Blacksmith shop, on the turnpike road five miles east of
Cumberland, and running thence by or near the residence
of Frederick Rice, and crossing Nichols' mountain, be-
tween the little and big Knobbs, and thence crossing Wil-
liams' road at a point a little west of the place where said
