Ah act to confirm the appointment of Benjamin Swingley,
as the collector of State and county taxes, for the year
eighteen hundred and forty-three, in Washington county,
and to make good as the official bond of the said collector,
the bond heretofore executed by him and his securities, as
such, and for other purposes.

Preamble.
|
Whereas it is represented that some informalities
occured in taking the official bond of Benjamin Swingley,
the collector of State and county taxes, in the county afore-
said, for the year eighteen hundred and forty-three, whereby
it is apprehended that doubts may exist with regard to the
legality of the appointment of said collector and of the
sufficiency of said bond, as a security for his official acts
and liabilities.

Confirmed.

Section 1. Beit therefore enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the appointment of Benjamin Swing-
ley, as the collector of State and county taxes, in Washington
county, for the year eighteen hundred and forty-three, be
and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed, and all acts
done by him in the regular performance of his duties as such
collector, be and the same are also ratified and confirmed.

made good.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the bond executed by
the said collector and his securities, and dated the twenty-
second day of May, eighteen hundred and forty-three, be
and the same is hereby confirmed and made good, as the
official bond of said collector according to the tenor and
effect, true intent and meaning thereof, as effectually as if
the same had been taken in due form and with all the cere-
monies prescribed by the laws in force at the date of said

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That said bond may be
put in suit like other collector's bonds in the name of the
State of Maryland, as plaintiff, with the proper use endorsed
on the writ, and that such proceeding shall not be preju-
diced by the words "commissioners of Washington county"
in the obligatory part of the bond, or the words "and the
State of Maryland, " in the condition of the bond; and
