CHAP. 56.

Corporate
powers.

property, real, personal and mixed, exceeding in value the
sum of twenty thousand dollars.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation and
their successors, by the name and style aforesaid, shall be
forever thereafter capable in law to sue and be sued, plead
and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend
and be defended, in all or any courts of justice, and before
all or any judges, officers or persons whatsoever, in all and
singular actions, matters or demands whatsoever.

Common seal.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful for
the said corporation to have a common seal for their use,
and the same at their will and pleasure to change, alter and
make anew from time to time, as they may think best, and
shall in general have and exercise all such rights, privileges
and immunities as by law are incident or necessary to cor-
porations, and what may be necessary to the corporation
herein constituted.

To inure for
80 years.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall inure for
twenty years, if not sooner repealed by the General

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act,
shall be so construed as to authorize the said corporation
to issue any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

An act to incorporate the Prince George's Agricultural

Society.

Preamble.

Whereas societies for the promotion of agriculture and
the encouragement of domestic manufactures in the various
counties of this State, would by exciting a spirit of emulation
and diffusing useful information, tend greatly to advance the
prosperity of the State and ought to be encouraged.
Therefore,

Prince Geor-
ge's Agricul-
tural Society.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That there be and hereby is established the
Prince George's Agricultural Society, in Prince George's
county in the State of Maryland, and that the said society
be regulated under the management and direction of the
officers thereof, in the manner hereinafter mentioned.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That Charles B. Calvert,
Robert W. Bowie, Thomas Duckett, William D. Bowie,
Horace Capron, Thomas W. Clagett, James Mullikin,
