connected with either of said rivers, shoot at or shoot any
duck or ducks, from any vessel, boat, canoe, skiff or other
craft of less than ten tons burthen, any person so offending
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemenor, and upon convic-
tion shall be fined not less than fifty dollars, or imprisioned
not less than three months, at the discretion of the court,
one half of all such fines to go to the State, and one half to
the informer.

CHAP. 304.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all persons offending
against the provisions of this act shall be proceeded against
by indictment in Kent county court and Cecil county court,
as for other misdemeanors.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That any person who shall
aid or abet in any manner, by furnishing a boat, vessel or
craft, or gun, or ammunition to any one, for the purpose of
shooting ducks, against the provisions of this act, or who
shall purchase ducks from any one who has shot them con-
trary to the provisions of this act, knowing that they were
so unlawfully shot, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemean-
or, and upon indictment and conviction in any county court,
shall be fined and imprisioned or either, at the discretion of
the court, and that such indictment may be brought at any
time within two years from the commission of the offence.

CHAPTER 303.

 

An act for the benefit of Joseph R. Eccleston of Dorchester
County.

Passed March
8, 1844.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time allowed for registering certain slaves brought
into this Stale, by Joseph R. Eccleston of Dorchester
county, is hereby extended to the first day of May next,
after the passage of this act, and that the introduction into
this Stale, of the slaves of the said Joseph R. Eccleston,

shall be considered valid and legal to all intends and pur-
poses whatsoever. Provided, that the said Joseph R.
Eccleston in all other respects complies with the law of
eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter fifteen.
