CHAPTER 244.

A supplement to the act entitled, an act for the General Va-
luation and Assessment of Property in this State, and to
provide a tax to pay the debts of the State, passed at
March session eighteen hundred and forty-one, chapter
twenty-three.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the register of the land office, be entitled to ieceive
the same compensation for services rendered under the
thirty-seventh section of the act to which this is a sup-
plement, as was allowed the registers of the land office
for the western and eastern shores, under the act of May
session eighteen hundred and thirteen, chapter six.

CHAPTER 245.

 

An act to authorize the erection of a Bridge over the Pa-
tuxent River, and to alter and change so much of the
Columbia Road as is necessary to connect said road
therewith.

4, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioner's of tax of Montgomery
County and of Howard District of Anne Arundel county,
are hereby authorized and required to levy a sum of mo-
ney not exceeding one hundred and fifty dollars on the as-
sessable property of said county and district respectively,
at the time of making their next county and district levy,
together with the commission for collecting the same,
which said assessment shall be made, levied, collected
and paid to the commissioners appointed by this act or to
their order, as soon as the same shall become payable by
law, and to be by them expended in building a bridge,
over the Patuxent river, near the place where the Colum-
bia road crosses said river, and in making the proposed
change or alteration in the location of said Columbia

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That Dr. Washington Du-
vall and Caleb Stabler, on the part of Montgomery coun-
ty, and Dr. Charles C. Ridgely and John Warfield of
Joshua, on the part of Howard District in Anne Arundel
county are appointed commissioners, and the said com-
missioners or a majority of them are hereby authorised
