CHAP. 207.

act of the General Assembly of Maryland, to vest certain
powers in the corporation of the city of Baltimore, in rela-
tion to streets, passed at December session eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-eight, chapter two-hundred and twenty-six,
(dated twenty-third of March eighteen hundred and thirty-
nine. )

 

CHAPTER 206.

An act for the relief David Trundle, trustee of Mary E.
Shreves of Montgomery county.

May intro-
duce negroes
into this state.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That David Trundle, trustee of Mary E. Shreves
be and he is hereby authorised, to introduce into this State,
and hold as slaves, negroes Hercules, Samuel, Hanson,
Nace, Maltilda and Eliza; provided, the said David Trun-
dle, trustee as aforesaid, within sixty days from the passage
of this law, shall file with the clerk of Montgomery county,
a description of such slaves, stating their ages, with an
affidavit thereto annexed, stating that the same is a true and
faithful description of such negroes, and that they are not
removed into this State, for the purpose of sale; and that
they are slaves for life; and provided also, that the said
David Trundle, trustee as aforesaid, shall comply with the
provisions of the act of assembly, passed at December
session eighteen hundred and thirty-three, chapter eighty-
seven, and the several supplements thereto, requiring the

payment of a tax for the use of the colonization society.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall and may here-
after be lawful for David Trundle, trustee as aforesaid, to
remove said slaves from Maryland to Virginia, and from
Virginia to Maryland, as often and at such times as the said
David Trundle, trustee as aforesaid, may deem fit, solely for
the cultivation and improvement of his lands, lying in each
of the aforesaid States.
