shall on that account, if he be not a party to such suit or
suits in his individual capacity, be incompetent as a wit-
ness.

CHAP. 201

Sec. 19. And be it enacted, That a general meeting of
the members of the company may be called in such man-
ner, and after such notice as shall be prescribed by the
constitution or by-laws at which general meeting the con-
stitution or by-laws may be repealed, changed or altered.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorize the said corporation to
issue any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence of
debt to be used as currency.

CHAPTER 200.

 

An act to confirm and make valid the proceedings of the
Commissioners of Somerset county.

Passed March
1, 1844.

Whereas it is represented to the general assembly,
that James Tilghman, Esq. one of the commissioners of
Somerset county, elected in eighteen hundred and forty-
two, for the third commissioner's district of said county,
is not a resident of said district, as required by law; and
that doubts may exist as to the validity of the proceed-
ings of the commissioners in consequence of the non-re-

sidence of the said James Tilghman—Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the proceedings of the commissioners of Somerset
county, since the election of the said James Tilghman, be
and they are hereby confirmed and made valid to all in-
tents and purposes, as if the said James Tilghman had
been a resident of the third commissioner's district of
said county.

CHAPTER 201.

 

An act to authorise Eleanor Bounds of Somerset County,
to make a sale and conveyance of a lot of ground, in
Quantico.
