CHAPTER 197.

CHAP. 198.
|
An act entitled, an act to allow John Hutchins former She-
riff of Calvert county further time to complete his collec-
tions.
|

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Hutchins, former Sheriff of Calvert
county, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered
to collect until the first day of June eighteen hundred and
forty-five, all fines, forfeitures, amerciaments, officer's
fees and balances now remaining due to, and uncollected
by him in the county aforesaid.

Time allowed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said John Hutch-
ins, before he proceeds to execute the body or property of
any person or persons for fines, forfeitures, amerciaments,
fees and balances as aforesaid, he shall deliver or
cause to be delivered to such person or persons charge-
able with the same, at least thirty days previous to
serving or levying such execution, an account of the
sum demanded of him, her or them, which shall con-
tain the specific items charged, with an affidavit an-

nexed thereto, that he hath not, nor hath any person
or persons acting under him, whilst sheriff, nor since,
received any part thereof, or satisfaction for the same,
to the best of his knowledge and belief, provided,
that if any person against whom there is a claim by said
Hutchins, shall make oath or affirmation before some
justice of the peace of said county, that he or she believes
the same to be unjust, or that the same has been paid at

any time previous it shall forever bar such claim.
Sec. 3. Be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall he so construed as to affect the estate of any deceas-
ed person.

CHAPTER 198.
A supplement to an act entitled, an act to incorporate the
Cumberland Coal and Iron Company, passed at Decem-
ber session eighteen hundred and forty, chapter two hun-
dred and fourteen.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be lawful for the Cumberland
Coal and Iron Company to charge, demand and receive
for all persons and property transported on the Rail Road
which they are authorized to construct from their mines
to the Canal or other points in or near the town of Cum-
berland, the same rates of toll or prices of transportation
