of each said election district, shall vote at the place thus
designated by the commissioners in such district.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be and the
same is hereby repealed.

CHAP. 196.

Repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That Howard District of
Anne Arundel county, shall be entitled to elect, as hereto-
fore, but three commissioners of tax who may be selected
from any part of said Howard District, provided, no two
of said commissioners be residents of the same election
district.

Proviso.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed so as to increase, in any man-
ner, the number of local or county officers of said District,
whether appointed by the commissioners or otherwise;
except such additional judges and clerks of election as
may be necessary to give efficiency to this act, power to
appoint whom is hereby expressly given.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the allowance to judg-
es and clerks of election in Howard District, shall be three
dollars per da), instead of the sum now allowed by law.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That as soon as practi-
cable after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty of
the clerks of the Senate and House of Delegates to trans-
mit a certified copy of the same, to the commissioners. of
tax of Howard District.

An act for the incorporation of Mount Vernon Lodge, num-
ber twenty-six, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows
of the State of Maryland.

Passed Feb.
28, 1844.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Bennet M. Bellingslea, Samuel McGaw,
Richardson Swart, John A. Cunningham, John C. Mc-
Comas, James Hodge and Hiram Cole, officers and mem-
bers of Mount Vernon Lodge, number twenty-six, of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows of the State of Ma-
ryland, and their successors, be and they are hereby de-
clared to be a community, corporation and body politic,
by the name, style and title of the Mount Vernon Lodge,
number twenty-six, of the Independent Order of Odd
Fellows of the State of Maryland, and by that name they
