tion under and in virtue of the act of the general assem-
bly of Maryland, of December session eighteen hundred
and two, chapter one hundred and eleven, and the several
supplements thereto, under the name of the trustees of
the Deer Creek Harmony Church, and chose and appoint-
ed Benjamin Silver, jun'r. William F. Bagles, Henry W.
Archer, John H. Price, and William Maxwell, the trus-
tees thereof, who in that capacity have acquired property
for the use and benefit of the congregation of said church,
and that the said proceedings have not been in all respects
regular and in conformity with the provisions of said act;
and whereas application has been made to this general
assembly to confirm and make valid the said proceedings

and to incorporate the said trustees—Therefore,
Sec. 1 Be it enacted by the General. Assembly of Maryland,
That the proceedings of said congregation bearing date
the twenty-fourth day of January eighteen hundred and
thirty-nine, and duly acknowledged and recorded in Har-
ford county court, in Liber. H. D. number twenty-two,
folio one hundred and thirty-two, be, and the same are
hereby made valid to all intents and purposes, as if the
same had been in strict conformity with the provisions of
said act of assembly; and that the said trustees in said
proceedings named together with the minister of said
church for the time being, in virtue of his ministry, be
and they are hereby constituted a body corporate by the
name and style of the "Trustees of the Deer Creek Har-
mony Church, " and that they and their successors forever,
to be appointed as hereinafter provided, shall have and
enjoy all the powers, rights and privileges in and by the
said act of eighteen hundred and two, chapter one hun-
dred and eleven, and the several supplements thereto con-
ferred upon and granted to trustees and bodies corporate,
created and chosen under and according to the provi-
sions of said act.

Made valid.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the trustees aforesaid
and their successors, or a majority of them, shall call a
meeting of the members of said church over twenty-one
years of age, on the first Monday of June, in every year,
at their usual place of meeting, for the purpose of elect-
ing by ballot, five suitable persons to act as trustees of
the said church for the next ensuing year, and in the
event of the failure of such election, the said trustees
herein before named, and those who shall be appointed
their successors, shall be entitled to continue in and hold
their office until a new election shall be made, and they,
or a majority of them, shall have power to fill all vacan-
cies that may occur in their own body, until a new elec-
tion shall take place.
