CHAPTER 124.

CHAP. 125.

An act to repeal an act entitled, An act supplementary to
an act passed December session eighteen hundred and
thirty-eight, chapter three hundred and sixty-two, enti-
tled, An act appointing and regulating Primary Schools
in St. Mary's county.

Passed Feb.
21, 1843.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the act recited in the title of this act,
passed March the fourth, eighteen hundred and forty-two,
and chapter two hundred and two of the printed laws of
December session eighteen hundred and forty-one, be, and
the same is hereby repealed.

Repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, Thai the act pass-
ed at December session eighteen hundred and thirty-eight
entitled, An act to divide St Mary's county into Primary
School districts, and to erect school districts therein, be, and
the same is hereby revived and declared to be in full force
and effect from and after the time of the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 125.

 

An act for the relief of John S. Crockett, late Sheriff and
Collector of Somerset county.

Passed Feb.
22, 1843.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John S. Crockett, late Sheriff and Collector of So-
merset county, be, and he is hereby authorized and empow-
ered, to collect and receive all and any balance or amount
of officer's fees, chancery taxes and fines and forfeitures
and county taxes, which may be due to the said John S.
Crockett as Sheriff and Collector aforesaid, in the same
manner, and with the same powers and privileges as are now
allowed by law, and in the same manner, and to the same
effect, as if the term of office of the said John S. Crockett

collect.

as Sheriff and Collector as aforesaid had not yet expired;
provided, that if any person against whom there is a claim
by said John S. Crockett for officer's fees, chancery taxes,
fines and forfeitures or county taxes as aforesaid, shall make
affidavit before some Justice of the Peace of the county
aforesaid, that he, she or they, believes the same to be un-
just, or that the same had been paid at any previous time to
the person claiming the same, it shall forever bar such claim,
and provided, that nothing in this act shall be construed to effect
