LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after the first
day of February, eighteen hundred and forty-three, the
salary of the superintendent of said road, shall be three
hundred and fifty dollars per annum; and the salary of the
keeper of the gate, between Frostburg and Cumberland,
shall be two hundred and fifty dollars per annum, and the
salary of the gate keeper at the gate west of Frostburg,
shall be two hundred dollars per annum, the said salaries to
be retained, and paid out of the tolls collected on said road.

CHAP. 83.

Salaries.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That from and after the first
day of February, eighteen hundred and forty-three, it shall
not be lawful for any superintendent of said road, to employ
in the repair or preservation of said road, any horses, of
carts, wagons, or other vehicles, belonging to, or being the
properly of said superintendent.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the commis-
sioners of Allegany County, be, and they ate hereby au-
thorised and directed, to appoint annually three inspectors,
whose duty it shall be to examine the road as often as they
may deem necessary, for the purpose of ascertaining what
improvements may be introduced in the repair and preser-
vation of said road, and which as far as practicable, shall
be adopted by said super intendent, and it shall also be the
duty of said inspectors, to make a report upon the condition
of said road, to the said commissioners, at their last annual
meeting.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, And it is hereby made the
duty of said inspectors, to inspect and audit the accounts of
said superintendent as required by the third section of the
act, passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty seven, chapter fifty two, to which this act is a further
supplement, for which said services hereby imposed upon
said inspectors, they shall respectively receive the sum of
two dollars each per day, for any day which they shall be
engaged in auditing said accounts.

An act granting farther time to William Sewell, collector of
the County charges for the third collection district of Anne
Arundel County, to complete his collections.

for Anne Arundel county, Maryland, for the third collection
