CHAPTER 54.

4, 1842.

An act supplemental to an act, passed December session
eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter 260, granting
further time to Richard C. Hardesty, late Collector of
the first Collection District, of Anne Arundel County, to
complete his collection of County taxes, in said District.

Time exten-
ded.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Richard C. Hardesty, late collector of
the first collection District of Anne Arundel county, be,
and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to collect until
the first day of January, eighteen hundred and forty-four,
all taxes, or balance of taxes, due him, as collector of the
aforesaid collection district, of Anne Arundel county, in
the same manner which he could, or might have done,
within the time limited by law, any law to contrary not-
withstanding.

Oath, &c.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the said Richard C. Hardesty, before he proceeds to exe-
cute, or distrain, the property of any person, or persons,
for taxes, or balance of taxes, in virtue of this act, to make
affidavit before some justice of the peace, that he has not
received any part of the taxes, or balance of taxes, due him
from said person, or persons, more than the credits therein
given to the best of his knowledge.

 

CHAPTER 55.

An act for the benefit of the Independent Hose, and Junior
Fire Companies of Frederick.

Levy court
may pay $500
to each com-
pany.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Frederick county, be, and they are
hereby authorised and empowered in their discretion, to
appropriate and pay to the President of the Independent
Hose Company, and the President of the Junior Fire Com-
pany of Frederick, the sum of five hundred dollars each,
to defray the expense incurred in repairing their engine or
engines, and to aid said companies in purchasing such ap-
paratus, as may be needful for their better and more effec-
tual equipment.
