tion.

CHAP. 53.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said corporation are
hereby authorised and empowered to erect a building
within the city of Baltimore, to be denominated the Union
Hall, for the accommodation of the various associations of
the people, and to have, hold and enjoy such real and per-
sonal property ns may be necessary for said building.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of said
company shall not exceed the sum of twenty-five hundred
dollars, to be divided in shares of five dollars each.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the officers of said com-
pany shall consist of a president and directors, to he chosen
at such time and in such manner as the bye-laws of said
corporation shall direct.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to authorise the said corporation to issue
any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence of debt to
be used as a currency

Sec. 6. And be if enacted, That this act shall enure for
thirty years, and the legislature reserves to itself the right
to change, alter or annul this act of incorporation at plea-
sure.

CHAPTER 53.

 

An act supplementary to an act, passed December session,
eighteen hundred and forty-one, chapter two hundred and
eighty-four.

Passed Feb.
6, 1843.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Burgess and other Commissioners of the village
of Smithsburg, in Washington county in this State, be, and
they are hereby empowered and required, within three
months after their next annual election, under the provisions
of said act, to cause a survey to be made, determining the
limits of the said corporation of Smithsburg, and they. shall
and are hereby empowered to include within such limits,
all lots, houses, buildings, or other improvements, which
from the contiguity of their situation to said village may be
fairly, and equitably adjudged, to belong to, and be in said
village.
