SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That if the said Mary
Pennington, widow of the said Francis Segar, shall at or
before the time of such acceptance or sale as aforesaid,;
execute and deliver to the said commissioners for the ac-
ceptor or acceptors, purchaser or purchasers, a good and
sufficient release of her dower, then the said tract of land
shall be accepted or sold free and discharged from said
dower, and the said orphan's court shall direct the invest-
ment of one-third of the appraisement or purchase money
(as the case may be) of said tract of land, the interest
thereof to be paid to the said widow during her natural life,
and after the decease, upon the application of the parties
entitled, the principal to be distributed among them, their
executors and administrators according to their respective
just and proportionable share therein.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the said com-
missioners and surveyor (should any be appointed) before
going upon the said tract of land shall be severally sworn
or affirmed by some officer in this State or the State of Ma-
ryland, authorized to administer an oath faithfully and im-
partially, according to the best of their respective skill and
fidelity, to perform the duties and powers confided to them
by this act.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That each of the said
commissioners shall be allowed the sum of two dollars for
each and every day they shall be engaged in the perform-
ance of their duties under this act, and the surveyor, if any
should be found necessary, and the clerk of the orphan's
court, shall receive such compensation as may be allowed
by said court.

SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That this act shall not
take effect or be of any force or authority until the legisla-
ture of Maryland shall pass an act to ratify, confirm and
give effect to the same, and whereas it is necessary to give
full effect to said act, that the same should be the legisla-
ture of this state, as a part of the aforesaid tract of land

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That the said commissioners, or a majority of them, named in
the before recited act, shall have all the powers, authorities
and jurisdiction respecting the valuing, dividing and dis-
posing of the lands aforementioned, which are conferred
upon said commissioners by said recited act and that the
parties and persons named in said recited act as interested
in said lands shall have all the rights and privileges confer-
red by said to the same effect as if all of said lands lay
in the State of Delaware, the intent being to give full effect
to the proceedings of said recited act in regard to all that
