inspection of Plaster of Paris in the city of Baltimore,
passed at December session eighteen hundred and forty-one,
chapter one hundred and two, be and the same is hereby
repealed.

CHAP. 279.

CHAPTER 278.

 

An act for the benefit of Israel Knode of Washington
county.

10, 1843.

WHEREAS George Sheiss, collector of county taxes for
Washington county, for the year eighteen hundred and for-
ty-one, died previous to completing his collections — there-
fore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Genera! Assembly of
Maryland, That the time of Israel Knode, the collector
appointed by Washington county court, to complete said
collections of county taxes be extended to the first day of
January eighteen hundred and forty-four.

Time exten-
ded.

SEC. 2. And it is further enacted, That if any person
or persons shall make affidavit before some justice of the
peace that they have paid part, or settled the claim in full
with George Sheis during his life time, or to any of his
collections, the same shall be a sett off against such claim.

CHAPTER 279.

 

A supplement, to an act to prevent unlawful dealing with Ne-
groes, and the reception of Stolen Goods in Anne Arundel
county, and in Howard District of this State.

9, 1848

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That it shall be the duty of the several clerks of
Anne Arundel county and Howard District courts of this
state, in all cases before granting licenses or permits under
existing laws to any trader or retailer, to examine the per-
son or persons applying for the same on oath, whether the
said license or permit is intended to be used for the benefit
of the person or persons only, in whose name or names the
same is applied for, or for the use or benefit of any other
person or persons, and the clerk to whom such application
as made shall not grant the same if it shall appear that the
