1842.

offices of Sheriff and Collector of tax in Calvert County,
passed December session 1838, chapter 158, be and the
same is hereby repealed.

CHAP. 21.

She. 2. And be it enacted, That the Levy Court of Cal-
vert county, be and they are hereby authorized to appoint a
collector or collectors for the collection of the county
charges in Calvert county, and the said collector or collec-
tors so appointed, shall within twenty days alter such ap-
pointment, give a good and sufficient bond or bonds, to be
approved by said Levy Court, for the faithful performance

of the duties of his or their office; provided, that nothing
herein contained shall prohibit the said court from ap-
pointing the sheriff of Calvert county as the collector of
county charges, if in their wisdom they deem it expedient

CHAPTER 20.

 

An act to repeal a supplement to an act to authorize the ap-
pointment of Justices of the Pease tu the City of Balti-
more, with limited jurisdiction, passed al December session
1825, chapter 139.

SECTION I. Belt enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the act passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-four, chapter two hundred and
eighty nine, entitled, a supplement to an act to authorize
the appointment of Justices of the Peace in the City of
Baltimore with limited jurisdiction, be, and the same is
hereby repealed.

Repealed.

CHAPTER 21.

 

An act for the relief of Thomas Barthalow and others.

WHEREAS, it is represented to the General Assembly of
Maryland, that Thomas Barthelow, Joseph Cocks and
James Becraft, of Carroll County, have been obliged to
pay a certain sum of money as a forfeiture of a recog-
nizance of appearance of a certain John Cook under cir-
cumstances which justify and require the interference of
this General Assembly — therefore,
