CHAP. 14.

right to authorise, one or more persons to inspect such ge-
neral accounts in the hooks of the corporation as shall re-
late to such statements.

Legislature
may alter or
amend.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the general assembly
of Maryland reserves the right to change, alter or amend
this corporation at any time.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to authorise the said corporation to issue
any note, scrip, token, device or evidence of debt, to be
used as currency.

 

CHAPTER 13.

Passed Jan.
12, 1843.

An act in relation to the payment of State Witnesses in Fre-
derick County.

Levy court to
levy.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Levy Court of Frederick county be,
and they are hereby authorised and required, to levy on the
assessable properly of said county, at their next annual le-
vy, and annually thereafter, a sufficient sum in advance to
pay the state's witnesses in said county, at the close of each
term of said county court

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the Collector of said County, whenever any person shall
present to him an order from the Clerk of Frederick
County Court for his attendance as a State witness, at any
time after the close of the October Court, next after the
passage of this act, to pay over to such person or his order
the amount due to him, after deducting therefrom all charges
the collector may have against such witness.

 

CHAPTER 14.

Passed Jan.
19, 1843.

An act to authorize, and empower George Davis executor of
George Biddle, late of Cecil County, deceased, to execute
a certain conveyance therein mentioned.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
of Maryland, that John L. Beeks of Cecil County, did pur-
chase of George Biddle, late of Cecil County deceased, a
certain tract or parcel of land for which he gave the said
