FRANCIS THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

CHAP. 170.

James H. Fountain, James Nicols, John Nicols and Wil-
liam Connelly, of Caroline county, and their successors,
be and they are hereby created and declared to be a body
politic anil corporate by the name and style of the trus-
tees of the Methodist Episcopal Chapel of Hillsborough,
Caroline county.

Succession to
be kept up by
conference
Appointment.

SEC. 2. Ami be it enacted, That the succession in the
said corporation shall be kept up and maintained by elec-
tion or appointment of the quarterly meeting conference
of the Methodist Episcopal Church for Caroline Circuit,
in such manner, and such periods, and for such times, as
the said quarterly meeting conference shall direct or ar-
range, and that the said conference shall have power to fill
vacancies occasioned by death, resignation or removal or
by dismission of the said conference.

Trustees to
hold the lot of
ground, &c.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees and
their successors, shall have power to take and hold for the
use and benefit of the said episcopal church, the lot of
ground which was conveyed in trust for the benefit of said
church by John Leeds Kerr and Elizabeth his wife, on or
about the sixteenth day of July, eighteen hundred and thirty
eight, and the chapel which has been thereon erected.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 4 And be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be so construed as to authorise this corporation
to issue any device, token, note, certificate, or other evi-
dence of debt, to be used as a currency.

Right reser-
ved.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the right is hereby ex-
pressly reserved to the general assembly of Maryland at
its pleasure to alter or repeal this act of incorporation.

An act to incorporate the Trustees of Island Creek Aca-
demy, in Calvert County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Joseph I. Hellen, William Daukins, Jo-
seph Griffith, John Tumor, Nathaniel W. Broome, Ben-
jamin Parran, and William Blackburn, and their successors
annually to be elected, be and they are hereby appointed
first trustees of Island Creek Academy, in the first election
district of Calvert county, and the said trustees and their
. successors annually to be elected in the manner hereinafter
mentioned, shall be and they are hereby declared to be one
community, corporation and body politic, with perpetual
