CHAP. 119.
To give deed

county, or a majority of them,, be and they ore hereby au-
thorized and empowered to sell upon such terms as they or
a majority of them shall think proper, and to convey to the
purchaser, a good and valid title in fee simple, in and to the
south east corner of the lot owned and held by the said
Methodist Episcopal Church, in the borough of Emmitsburg,
in Frederick county, and to apply the proceeds of such sale
in the mode, which in the opinion of the said trustees or a
majority of them, shall be most beneficial to the congrega-
tion of said church.

 

CHAPTER 118.

An act for the relief of Allen Bowie Davis, of Montgome-
ry County.

Commission-
ers to levy
50 dollars

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners for Montgomery county, be author-
ized and required to levy on the assessable property of said
county, for the use of Allen B. Davis, such sum, not to ex-
ceed fifty dollars, as they may find that the said Davis did
actually expend in causing the arrest in the city of Bali-
more, and securing in the jail of Montgomery county, the
notorious negro Bill Powell, who was convicted by Mont-
gomery county court, and sold beyond the limits of the
State.

 

CHAPTER 119.

An act supplemental to an act entitled, an act to provide for
the appointment of a Weigh Master of Live Stock in the
City of Baltimore, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and thir-
teen.

100 pounds

Section I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the weigh master of live stock in the city
of Baltimore, be authorized and he is hereby directed to
charge for the weighing of all beef cattle and hogs, which
may be driven or earned alive to the city of Baltimore, at
the rate of three and a half cents for every hundred pounds.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That if any butcher or other
person shall purchase any beef cattle or hogs, brought for
slaughter and sale within the corporate limits of the city of
