CHAPTER 115.

CHAP. 116.

A further supplement to an act entitled, at act for the bet-
ter regulation of the Militia in the City of Baltimore,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-
three.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That nothing contained in the provisions of the fifty first
section of the act to which this is a supplement, shall be
construed to vacate the commission of any cavalry or field
officer, or brigadier general, or major general removing out

of the city of Baltimore; provided, that the officers under
the command of the said brigadier general, or major gener-
al, or a majority of them, or a majority of the members of
any company of which said officer shall have command,
shall signify to the Governor of the State, their wish that
the said officer shall remain in the commission.

Proviso.

CHAPTER 116.

 

A supplement to the act for the General Valuation and As-
sessment of Property in this Slate, and to provide a Tax
to pay the Debts of the Stale, passed at March session,
eighteen hundred and forty-one, chapter twenty-three.

9, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That in all those counties, cities, and districts,
in which a general valuation and assessment of property has
not been made and completed according to the provisions
of the said original act, the time for making and completing
the same is hereby extended as follows, that is to say: the
assessors already appointed, or such as may be hereafter
appointed in the manner directed by said act, shall proceed
with all reasonable despatch, so that the assessment may be
completed before the first day of June next, and the said
assessors are hereby directed to return the same as provid-
ed by the nineteenth and twentieth sections of said act, on

hearing appeals as provided by the twenty-fourth section of
said act is hereby extended to the second Monday in July
next, between which day and the day for making said re-
turns, it is hereby required that the twenty-second section

mentioned, and immediately after the correction, adjust-
