been collected, in the same manner as he could, or have
done within the time limited by law.

CHAP. 106.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry P. Har-
rison, before he proceeds to execute the body or property
of any person or persons for fees, for Forfeitures, amerce-
ments, officers fees, or public dues, by the authority of this
act, shall deliver or cause to be delivered to such person or
persons chargeable with the same, or left at their houses at
least thirty days previous to serving or levying such execu-
tion, an account of the sum demanded of him, her or them,
which account shall contain the specific items charged, with
an affidavit thereto annexed, made before some justice of
the peace in and for Calvert county, that he hath not, nor
hath any other person or persons acting under him whilst
sheriff, nor since, received any part thereof, or satisfaction

for the same, to the best of his knowledge or belief; pro-
vided, that if any person against whom the said Henry L.
Harrison shall set forth any claim, shall make affidavit be-
fore any justice of the peace for the county aforesaid, that
he or she has paid such account at any previous time, it
shall forever bar the claim; and further, that nothing in this
act shall be construed to affect the estate of any deceased
person, the administration upon which has been closed; or
administration upon which has been had, since the power of
the said Harrison in virtue of his office of sheriff, to collect
the dues aforesaid has ceased.

CHAPTER IOC.

 

An act authorizing the Commissioners of Howard District,
of Anne Arundel County, to mortgage certain property
therein mentioned.

17, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Howard District, of
Anne Arundel county, be and they are hereby authorized to
mortgage the real estate belonging to the said district as.
security for any sum of money which they may think pro-
per to borrow for the purpose of erecting and completing
the public buildings of said district, directed to be built by
the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter ninety-

exceed the sum of sixteen thousand dollars; and provided
also, that not more than four thousand dollars shall be due,
