1841.

and collector of Somerset county, be and the same is hereby
extended to the first day of April, in the year eighteen hun-
dred and forty-three, and that within that time the said John
S. Crockett, and his deputies, shall have as full power and
authority to collect said dues, as if his time of office had not

expired; provided, that the said John S. Crockett shall in
every case before he proceeds to execute for any of said
fees, make out a Fair account thereof, with an affidavit an-
nexed, that they are due, and that neither he, nor any per-
son for him, hath received any part or security for the same.

An act to authorize the renewal of certain State Bonds
therein mentioned.

11, 1842

Whereas, by authority of the act of eighteen hundred
and thirty-eight, chapter one hundred and eighty-six, bonds
of the State of Maryland, issued by the commissioner of
loans, bearing evidences of the debt of the State, in the
sum of thirty-three thousand two hundred and fifty pounds
sterling, with ninety seven coupons for the interest payable
in London, attached to each; and it hath been alleged to this
General Assembly, that ninety-eight of the said bonds bear-
ing the numbers following, to wit: thirty-three bonds num-
bers three thousand four hundred to three thousand four
hundred and thirty-two, inclusive; thirteen bonds, numbers
three thousand three hundred and eighty-seven to three
thousand three hundred and ninety-nine, inclusive; twenty
eight bonds, numbers three thousand three hundred and fifty-
two to three thousand three hundred and seventy-nine, in-
clusive; eighteen bonds, numbers three thousand one hun-
dred and sixty-six to three thousand one hundred and eigh-
ty-three, inclusive; and six bonds, numbers eight hundred
and fifty to eight hundred and fifty-live, inclusive; were de-
livered to the authorized agents of the house of Baring,
Brothers and Company, and that the same whilst in the
possession of said agents were lost in the steamer President;
and it has been in like manner alleged that thirty-five of
said bonds bearing the numbers following, to wit: twenty-
eight bonds, numbers two thousand seven hundred to two
thousand seven hundred and twenty-seven, inclusive; five
bonds, numbers two thousand five hundred and thirty-eight
to two thousand five hundred and forty-two, inclusive; and
two bonds, numbers three thousand and forty, and eight
hundred and forty-nine, were delivered to the firm of
