LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 98.

May demand
statement

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be law-
ful at any time, for the General Assembly to demand a state-
ment of the amount of property, real and personal, belong-
ing to the said corporation, and of the debts due to and from
the said corporation, and the purposes for which disburse-
ments shall have been made, and shall also have the right to
authorize one or more persons to inspect such general ac-
counts in the books of the corporation, as shall relate to
such statement.

Rights reser-
ved

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the General Assembly
of Maryland reserves the right to change, alter or annul this
act of incorporation at any time.

Banking for-
bid

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to authorize the said corporation to issue
any note, scrip, token, device or other evidence of debt, to
be used as a currency.

In force

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That this act of incorporation
shall inure for thirty years, and that the legislature hereby
expressly reserves to itself at any time, at its pleasure, to al-
ter, amend or repeal this act of incorporation.

 

CHAPTER 97.

14, 1842.

An act to authorize Benjamin Lankford of Somerset Coun-
ty, to erect two Gates on a road in said county.

Authorized to
erect gates

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Benjamin Lankford, of Somerset county, be and he is
hereby authorized and empowered to erect two gates at his
own expense, on the county road leading down to Gunby's
creek in said county; provided, said gates are erected on that
part of the county road leading directly through the lands of
said Lankford.

 

CHAPTER 98.

14, 1842.

An act to allow John S. Crockett, late Sheriff and Collec-
tor of Somerset County, further time to complete his col-
lections.

Time exten-
ded

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time for the collection of officers fees, county levy,
chancery taxes, fines and forfeitures, and all other sums that
may be due and owing to John S. Crockett as late sheriff
