CHAPTER 90.

chap. 92.

A bill entitled, an act for the benefit of the Collector of the
Direct Tax, in Allegany County.

10, 1842.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Allegany county, may if in the
opinion of said commissioners it shall appear just to do so,
levy upon the taxable property of said county such further
sum or sums of money as may appear to them reasonable
and proper, as a further compensation to the collector of
the direct tax, in said county, in addition to the percentage
already allowed by law to said collector, for his trouble and
expense in collecting the direct tax in the county aforesaid.

CHAPTER 91.

 

An act for the relief of Paupers, in Howard District, of
Anne Arundel County.

Passed Feb
10, 1842.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, the commissioners
of Howard District, of Anne Arundel county, are hereby
authorized and empowered to levy on the assessable pro-
perty of said Howard District, at their annual meeting for
laying levies for the current expenses of said district, such
sums of money as will provide for the relief of paupers in

An act for the relief of John S. Selby, former Sheriff of
Anne Arundel County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
John S. Selby, former sheriff of Anne Arundel county, be
and he is hereby authorized and empowered to collect and
receive all and any balance or amount of officers fees,
chancery taxes, and fines and forfeitures, which may be due
to him or to his deputies, in the same manner, and to the
same effect, and with like powers, as if the said Selby had
