An act to divorce Josephine Street Elworthy, of the City of
Annapolis, from her husband Richard James Hawke.

Divorced

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Josephine Street Elworthy, be and she is Hereby
divorced From her Husband Richard James Hawke, a vinculo
matrimonii, and the said Josephine shall be entitled to all
the privileges of a feme sole, as if she had never been
married.

An act to incorporate certain trustees to establish an Aca-
demy in Calvert county, to be known by the name and
style of Hall's Creek Academy.

Incorporated.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That George W. Dowell, Benjamin Owens,
John Fowler, Zachariah Howes, Thomas Lane, be, and
they are hereby appointed trustees of Hall's Creek Acade-
my, and the said trustees, and their successors to be elected
in the manner Hereinafter mentioned, shall be one commu-
nity and body politic, with perpetual succession in fact and
law, to all intents and purposes connected with the institu-

Academy, in Calvert county, by which name and title, the
said trustees and their successors shall be competent and

capable at law, or in equity, to hold to themselves and their
successors, For the use of said academy, goods, chattels,
money, stocks or effects, by gift, grant, bargain, sale, con-
veyance, devise or bequest, of any person or persons what-
ever, and the same to convey, lease, loan or otherwise to
dispose of for the use of the said academy, in such man-
ner, as to them, or a quorum of them, shall deem most safe
and beneficial to the said institution.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That at all times forever
hereafter, when any vacancy or vacancies shall happen in
such community of trustees, by the death, resignation or
refusal of any one or more of the trustees thereof, or by
wilful neglect of any one or more of them to attend three
succeeding stated meetings of the board of trustees, the
surviving or remaining trustees, or a quorum of them, may
proceed to elect by ballot, other competent, judicious and
discreet person or persons of the county aforesaid, to be
