CHAP. 61.
Banking for-
bid.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act be
construed so as to authorize the said corporation to issue any
note, token, device, scrip, or other evidence of debt, to be
used as currency.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall inure for thirty years from its passage; and that the
legislature reserves to itself the right to alter or annul this
act of incorporation whenever any of the privileges here-
by granted are violated.

An act to allow Henry Harding, late Sheriff and Collector
of Montgomery County, further time to complete his
collections.
|

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Henry Harding, late sheriff and collector
of Montgomery county, by himself or any person or per-
sons by him appointed for this purpose, is now and are
hereby authorized and empowered to collect, until the last
day of December, eighteen hundred and forty three, all
sums and balances due him as sheriff and collector of Mont-
gomery county, in the same manner which the said Henry
Harding could or might have done within the time limited
by law, any thing to the contrary notwithstanding.

davit.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the said Henry Harding, before, he proceeds to execute or
distrain the property of any person or persons, for taxes,
public duos or officers fees, in virtue of this act, to deliver
to such person or persons, chargeable with the same, at
least thirty days previous to the levying such execution or
distress, an account written in words in full length, of the
taxes, public dues or officers fees demanded of him, her or
them, with an affidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not
received any part thereof, nor any thing in security or sa-
tisfaction for the same, more than the credits given, to the

best of his knowledge; provided, that no person shall be
required to pay any taxes under this act who will make
oath before a justice of the peace that the taxes claimed
have been paid, or where the person is dead, if the heir,
executor or administrator or assign will make oath as afore-
said, that he or she believes the said taxes have been paid.
