Preamble and Resolution directing the Librarian to per-
form certain duties in relation to the last census, &c.
Whereas, by a Resolution of Congress, number six, ap-
proved by the President, September first, eighteen hundred
and forty-one, the State of Maryland is entitled to one hun-
dred and ninety of the printed copies of the last Census of
the United States—therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the State Librarian he and he is hereby authorized and di-
rected to apply to the Secretary of State, of the United
States, for the said one hundred and ninety copies of the
last census of the United States, and that so soon as the said
Librarian shall have received the same, he shall cause them
to be distributed in the Following manner, namely: one copy
thereof to each of the Senators of this State, one copy to
each of the Delegates in this House, one copy to be deposi-
ted in the Executive Chamber, one copy to be forwarded
to each of the Clerks and Registers offices of the several
counties of this State, in the same manner that the Laws
and Votes and Proceedings of the Legislature are forward-
ed, and the remaining numbers of said census to be deposi-
ted in the State Library.

Resolution directing the Secretary of State to permit George
Bancroft to have certain Documents, &c.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Secretary of State be authorized to deliver to George
Bancroft, Esquire, author of the History of the United
States, any manuscripts in the Council Chamber, referring
to the Revolutionary period of the History of Maryland,
on condition that the same be returned to the archives of
the State within a reasonable time, the said Secretary mak-
ing a catalogue, and taking a receipt for the same.
