CHAP. 36.

Proviso.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall be and re-
main in force until the first day of January, eighteen hun-
dred and sixty, and until the end of the next session of the
General Assembly thereafter; provided however, that nothing
herein contained shall be so construed as to authorize said
corporation to issue notes of any kind, character or descrip-
tion to be used as money, or to deny to the legislature the

CHAPTER 35.

Proviso

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, Somerset coun-
ty court shall, and may have and exercise jurisdiction in
all suits or actions commenced therein, where the debt,
damages, or thing claimed, or in action, shall exceed fifty
dollars in value; any law 1o the contrary notwithstanding
provided, however, that nothing herein contained, shall be so
construed, as to prevent the magistrates courts of said coun-
ty, from having and exercising jurisdiction in any case here-
after to be commenced before the same, in the same man-
ner, and to the same extent as they now do.

 

CHAPTER 36.

A bill entitled, an act to provide for fixing the place for
holding elections Tyaskin District, in Somerset County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland That the commissioners of Somerset county, are
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to condemn a
piece of ground not to exceed one-fourth of an acre, in the
most central part of Tyaskin election district, in Somerset
county, which said piece or lot of ground shall be the place,
and used as such, to hold the elections in said district.

Sec. 2. Be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall
value the said piece or lot of ground in current money, and
pay the same to the owner thereof; and the said land, and
all the appurtenances and improvements shall ever thereafter
be deemed the property of Somerset county.
