LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 313

March, in the year eighteen hundred and forty, entitled as
the above mentioned ordinance, be and they are hereby de-
clared to be inoperative.

 

CHAPTER 312.

Passed March
9, 1842.
Made valid.

An act to make valid certain Deeds therein mentioned.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the deed which was executed by a certain George P.
Fox, of Frederick county, and State of Maryland, to Jacob
Wyant, of Champaign county, in the State of Ohio, for
fifty-three acres of land, more or less, lying in Frederick
county, in the State of Maryland; and the deed from Jacob
Wyant and wife to Henry Buhrman, for the same land and
premises, be and the same are hereby declared to be as
good, valid and effectual in law for all purposes, as if the same
had been properly, executed, acknowledged and recorded

Proviso.

according to the laws of this State; provided however, that
this act shall not be construed so as to change, alter, con-
firm or invalidate the legal or equitable title which any per-
son or persons may have to said land and which shall or
may Have accrued in a manner other than from or through
the defective execution and acknowledgment of said deed.

 

CHAPTER 313.

An act to authorize the Trusts therein mentioned.

Universities
may hold real
and personal
properly.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That real and personal property may be grant-
ed and conveyed to any university, college or other literary
institution in this State, which now is or hereafter may be
incorporated, the same to be held in trust to found- and
maintain professorships, fellowships or scholarships; and
that said trusts may be created subject to such conditions as
may be prescribed by the grantor or donor, and agreed to
by said trustees, the same not being inconsistent with the
constitution and laws of this State.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all property which shall
hereafter be granted as aforesaid to any incorporated uni-
versity, college or other literary institution of the State, in-
trust for either of the before named purposes, may be held
