CHAPTER 303.

CHAP. 304.

An act supplemental to an act entitled, an act respecting
the equity Jurisdiction of County Courts.

9, 1842.

Whereas, doubts have been expressed whether the coun-
ty courts as courts of equity, have jurisdiction to decree the
sale of lands not being in the county where the bill or peti-
tion is filed and the decree or order For sale passed, although
they maybe in the same judicial district; and whereas, many
such decrees and orders have passed for the sale of lands,
and much land has been sold and conveyed to purchasers
under such decrees and orders and the purchasers have paid
their money for the same and gone into the possession there-
of, therefore for the purpose of removing all doubts in such
cases and confirming and making all sales made under such
decrees or orders.

Preamble

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all sales of land heretofore made under a
decree or order of any county court, sitting as a court of
equity, where the land does not lie in the same county,
where the decree or order of sale passed, but lies in the
same judicial district, shall be and is hereby declared to be
as good and valid as if land laid and all the parties to such
decree resided in the county where such decree or order
was passed, and all conveyances of such land made or to be
made under or by virtue of such decrees or orders hereto-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall go into ope-
ration from and immediately after its passage.

CHAPTER 304.

 

An act relating to the City of Baltimore and for other pur-
poses.

Passed March
9, 1842.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall and may
be lawful for the mayor and city council of Baltimore, for
the purpose of retiring the present stock orders of the Balti-
more and Ohio Rail Road Company, to issue certificates of
stock of a less denomination than one hundred dollars, bear-
