CHAPTER 195.

CHAP. 196.

An act to regulate the sale of Scrap Tobacco in the State's
Tobacco Inspection Ware-houses in Baltimore.

3, 1842.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act, it shall
be the duty of each of the inspectors of tobacco in the city
of Baltimore, to cause to be packed into hogsheads, accord-
ing to quality, all the scrap tobacco accumulating from time
to time in the inspection ware-houses of said city, and cause
it to be sold to the best advantage, and deliver the nett pro-
ceeds of the sales of said tobacco, into the hands of the
treasurer of the western shore, to be placed to the credit of
the tobacco fund, the same as other monies arising from the
inspection of tobacco are now placed in his hands.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all other acts inconsis-
tent with the provisions of this act, be and the same are
hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 196.

 

An act for the benefit of William Bryan of Richard, of
Prince George's County.

Passed March
3, 1842

WHEREAS, by the petition of William Bryan of Richard,
it appears that the assessors of Prince George's county, in
the year eighteen hundred and thirty-two, assessed to the
said William Bryan of Richard, four hundred acres of land
more than he was actually proprietor of, and that he has paid
taxes thereon ever since, and has prayed for relief in the
premises—therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That at the time of laying the next annual levy
in Prince George's county, the levy court of said county
shall be and are hereby authorized to levy a sum of money
to pay to said William Bryan of Richard, such sums as he
may appear to have paid for taxes on such land as he was
pot proprietor of, and which was erroneously assessed to
him.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of said
county shall have power to make levies For the use of other
persons who may apply, and satisfy the court that they have
said taxes on land or other property erroneously assessed
to them.
