CHAPTER 180.

Passed March
2, 1842.

An act to provide for the building of a Fridge over the
Patuxent, at Triadelphia Factory, in Montgomery coun-
ty, and to open a road in said county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Montgomery coun-
ty and of Howard District of Anne Arundel county, are
hereby authorized and required to assess and levy a sum of
money, not exceeding two hundred and twenty five dollars,
on the assessable property of said county and district res-
pectively, at the time of laying their next taxes, together
with the commission for collecting the same, which said
assessment shall be made, levied, collected and paid to the
commissioners appointed by this act, or to their order, as
soon as the same shall become payable by law, and to be by
them expended in building a bridge over the Pautexent
river at Triadelphia Factory, and to connect the Triadel-
phia road therewith.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the following persons
are appointed commissioners for building said bridge, to
wit: on the part of Montgomery county, William Brown
and Frederick Gaither; and on the part of said district,
William Owings and Jeremiah Macnew, and the said com-
missioners or a majority of them, are authorised and cm-

powered as soon as may be convenient, to cause said bridge
to be built of sound and good materials, with stone abut-
ments, and completed in the best and most substantial man-
ner, and they or a majority of them are by this act autho-
rized and empowered, to agree with a contractor or con-
tractors for building said bridge, and for keeping the same
in repair for ten years after the completion of said bridge,
and its acceptance by the said commissioners or a majority
of them.

Compensa-
tion

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners afore-
said or a majority of them, shall render to the commission-
ers of the tax of Montgomery county and Howard district
respectively, at their next meeting after the expenditure of
said money, a true, full and fair account of all the money
by them laid out and expended by virtue of this act in
building said bridge, and connecting said road therewith,
and that the aforesaid commissioners of the tax shall make
such compensation to said commissioners respectively, as
they in their judgement shall think proper.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners na-
