at their pleasure to transferor dispose of, in such manner as
they think proper; provided always, that the said corpora-
tion or body politic, shall not at any time hold or possess
property, real, personal or mixed, exceeding in value the

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation and
their successors, by the name, style and title aforesaid, shall'
be forever thereafter capable in law, to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, de-
fend and be defended, in all or any courts of justice, and be-
fore all and any judge, officers or persons whatsoever, in all

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be law-
ful for the said corporation to have a common seal for their
use, and the same at their will and pleasure to change, alter
and make anew, from time to time, as they may think best,
and shall in general have and exercise all such rights, privi-
leges and immunities as by law are incident or necessary to
corporations, and what may be necessary to the corporation

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to authorize the said corporation to issue
any note, token, scrip, device or other evidence of debt, to
be used as currency.
Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall inure for
thirty years, if not sooner repealed by the General Assem-
bly.

An act to incorporate the Otterbein's German Beneficial
Society of Baltimore.

Whereas William Numsen, William Raine, Frederick
Ahlsberger, Charles Widener and others, have formed them-
selves into a society for the laudable purpose of affording
relief to each other and their respective families in the event
of sickness, distress and death, and have prayed for an act of
incorporation that they may better execute their benevolent

intentions—therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Rumsen, William Raine, Frede-
rick Ahlsberger, Charles Widener and others, who now
are or may hereafter become members of said society, and
their successors, are hereby, declared to be one community
