semble and meet at such times and places as they may agree
upon, and to ordain, establish and put into execution, such
by-laws, ordinances and regulations, as to them shall seem
conducive to the interest of the said corporation, and neces-
sary to the good government and orderly management there-
of; provided, the same be not contrary to the laws of this
State or of the United States.

CHAP. 156.
Proviso.
|
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be construed, so as to authorize the said corporation to issue
any note, token, device, scrip or other evidence of debt, to
he used as currency.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act of incorporation
shall inure for thirty years from its passage, and that the le-
gislature reserves to itself the right to alter or annul this act
of incorporation at pleasure.

An act to extend the time for making Collections by Chris-
tian Shepard, late Collector of Washington County.
|

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, Thati Christian Shepard, late collector of Wash-
ington county, be and he is hereby allowed until the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and forty-four.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the said Christian Shepard, before he proceeds to execute
or distrain the property of any person or persons, for taxes
due in virtue of this act, to deliver to such person or per-
sons, chargeable with the same, at least twenty days pre-
vious to the levying such execution or distress, an account,
written in words in full length, of the property assessed, and
the rate of tax thereon demanded of him, her or them, with
an affidavit annexed thereto, that he hath not received any
part thereof, nor any thing: in security or satisfaction for the
same, more than the credits given, to the best of his knowl-
edge.
