CHAP. 146

time thereafter, such vacancies as may occur, and the com-
missioners aforesaid shall apportion the public roads, in the
several election districts in such manner, that the persons
appointed to supervise and repair the same, shall reside the
most convenient to all parts of the same, that one qualified
can be obtained.

Rates of com-
pensation.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That if the road or roads
required to be kept in repair by any one supervisor shall
be less than ten and more than five miles in length, said su-
pervisor shall be entitled to receive one dollar and fifty
cents for each day he may be employed thereon, and if the
roads assigned as aforesaid, to any one supervisor shall not
be more than five miles in length, then and in that case said
supervisor shall be entitled to one dollar and no more, for
each day he may be employed in repairing the same.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER 145..

An act to define the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace, in
Kent County.

Powers-limi-
ted.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That justices of the peace in and for Kent
county, shall in no case exercise jurisdiction where the debt
and interest together, or damages claimed, shall exceed the
sum of one hundred dollars.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent
with this, be and the same are hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER 146.

Passed Feb
28, 1842.

An act entitled, a supplement to the act entitled, an act for
the improvement of the Public Road, in Kent County,
passed November session, eighteen hundred, chapter fifty-
eight, and to repeal the act entitled, a supplement to the
act entitled, an act for the improvement of Public Roads
in Kent County, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-seven, chapter one hundred and
seventy.
